“You are the salt of the Earth. But if the salt loses its taste, it cannot be made salty again. Salt is useless if it loses its salty taste. It cannot be made salty again. It will be thrown out where people will walk on it.
You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden.”
You have probably realized this by now—or not—but even before you came to receive Jesus, being singled out and getting targeted has been a regular thing in your life. Perhaps you’ve been targeted by bullies, or could be labeled as the black sheep in the family, or perhaps the crazy one in the group.
You could not blend in. No matter how you try, you stand out.
When Jesus said, “You are the salt of the Earth.” He didn’t say, try to be saltier in the Earth. When Jesus said, “You are the light that shines for the world to see.” He didn’t say, try to be brighter so the world can see.
He said, “You ARE”.
He’s not flattering you. If you have ears to hear, let them hear. Jesus says, “You are.” He is simply describing how He had intended you. Not to stir your pride. Not to add to your ego, but simply a description of His creation, because—wait for it—He has a purpose for you being the salt of the Earth.
Here’s the thing though, even if you don’t feel like it. It doesn’t change. Even when others have tried to put out your light, put you in the dark, and cover it—Jesus design for you remains the same.
So what does it mean to be the Light of the world?
There is a reason for that. I believe that this is because Jesus wants you to tell others about the most important thing in life:
TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST.
‘“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, it cannot be made salty again. Salt is useless if it loses its salty taste. It will be thrown out where people will just walk on it. “You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden. People don’t hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. ‘
